I love it when people come up to me and say: You don't look like a Tarot Reader!
My standard response is: Thank you.
I used to say: What does a Tarot Reader look like?
The answers were fairly similar... Well, you know! Scarves and dangly earrings and rings and bright, flowy skirts. Lots of make up.
I don't know a Tarot Reader who does look like that! But, I do understand the imagery and the stereotype. When I first became interested in the Tarot, that's what I wanted to look like!
Plenty of water has passed under the bridge since then. And experience & time have tempered the fantasy. The reality is that Tarot Readers are - generally speaking - just regular folk. Like you!
A couple of weeks ago, my daughter (also a Tarot Reader) and I recorded a conversation about our Tarot experience. You can watch it here on YouTube: Tarot Interview with Toni McKilligan.
In the video, my daughter and I share our stories about finding the Tarot and what it means to us to be Readers. I hope you enjoy it. Please leave a comment so we know you've visited with us. (Here on my blog & on YouTube)
Brightest blessings!

Remote Readings - How they work and why they are a good option
Getting a Tarot reading in person is great. Sitting across the table from your favourite Tarot Reader and hearing all the messages first hand is exciting.
What if you are too busy to drive to your reader's place of business, sit through the reading and then drive all the way back home? Depending on where you live and where your Tarot Reader is located, the drive alone can easily double the time it takes to get a reading. What could you be doing with that extra driving time?
Remote readings are a good solution - for Readers and for clients.
But how do they work?
Rather well, actually!
Remote readings take on a few different forms. Phone or Skype calls are two great ways to get readings without the hassle of having to get to the appointment. Technology is a real boon here!
Another way, and one that is growing in popularity, is to order a reading via e-mail. There are a few steps involved, but they are relatively easy steps and clients can - literally! - get their readings and have them too.
First, find a Tarot Reader who offers remote reading services. There are many of us now. I find remote readings to be very efficient and, in many cases, even better than in-person readings because I can prepare for and conduct the reading in the best of circumstances rather than on-demand. (Not that I don't enjoy in-person readings. I do!)
Tarot Readers who offer remote reading services usually have a system in place for ordering, paying and delivering the reading. Try to familiarize yourself with that process so you know what to expect. I send an explanatory e-mail along with the invoice.
When you decide you are ready for a reading, simply e-mail your Tarot Reader with your question. If your Tarot Reader offers different types of readings, make sure you specify which one you want. Prices may vary and you don't want to be invoiced for a $100 reading when you really want a $50 reading.
Make your question as clear as possible. Background information will help the Tarot Reader to fully tap into the energies in play for your situation. But try not to belabor it. Be concise. Remember, your Tarot Reader has to take the time to read your e-mail and a lengthy missive will add to the time it takes to process your request.
You will get an invoice. Pay it! The faster you pay the invoice the faster you will receive your reading. This is likely how your Tarot Reader makes a living. Please be respectful of that.
Wait patiently for your reading to arrive. Most Tarot Readers that offer remote services by email will specify a time frame in which you can expect your reading. For me, it's 1 to 3 business -emphasis on business - days. We have lives outside our jobs, too. We do our best to provide timely service and it is helpful for clients to keep in mind that high volumes of requests may slow things down on the Tarot Reader's end. If I am unable to deliver a remote reading withing the 3 business days, I send an apology e-mail explaining the delay and offer a discount on a future reading.
If you don't receive your reading on time, or don't get an e-mail explaining why it has been delayed, then contact your Tarot Reader to politely ask what is happening. There really is no need to get snippy. That never helps. It could be that an emergency took priority and your Tarot Reader just couldn't get in touch with you. Or a technological glitch occurred somewhere along the way. (It does happen from time to time.) Just be polite. Your Tarot Reader will very likely be willing to move mountains to make things right for you.
Once you receive your reading... Enjoy! At your convenience!
I have been asked several times why anyone would want to wait for a reading to come by e-mail instead of getting it right away in person.
Ah! That's an excellent question. If you were to call me, for example, to book an in-person reading, you would have to wait 1 to 3 weeks for the appointment. Remote, phone and Skype readings take up most of my working time these days and so I have only a few in-person appointment times set aside. Honestly, it would be faster for you to order a remote reading. (And save yourself the driving time!)
I also get asked how I can possibly do a reading for someone who isn't there. Well, the process is an intuitive one. Once I receive the original e-mail request and read the question, I begin connecting energetically with my clients. The question could roll around in my mind for hours until something twigs and Spirit moves me to consult the cards. The readings are often way more insightful than even in person readings because I'm not distracted by nervous or fearful energies from the clients. I can focus on the question and get right to the meat of the matter.
There is the small drawback of not being able to get clarification from the client on "fuzzy" matters. Sometimes, messages aren't crystal clear and I can only do my best to interpret them. I do allow clients one follow-up question and since I take a photo of the cards during the reading, I can refer back to it if necessary.
Remote readings are an awesome alternative and work well for most people. If you would like to try a remote reading with me, send me an e-mail with your question to yemallasmoontarot@gmail.com specifying TRYREMOTE in the subject line. I will do a five-card reading for you for only $30 - that's a 25% discount.
You will receive a live recording of the reading along with a photo of the cards.
Brightest blessings!
