Tarot Journaling for Clarity

They say that Tarot Readers should not consult their cards for themselves.  Some people consider this a real taboo and refuse - or claim to refuse - to do personal readings for themselves.

Nonsense!

I consult my cards daily and I keep a Tarot journal.  Interesting patterns emerge as time  passes and situations change.  Reviewing my journal and looking at the cards that repeat from reading to reading, is a great way to see how I am channeling my energies; my thoughts and actions.  Am I responding or resisting?   When I check in with myself and the cards, I can see where I am making progress and where I am procrastinating or avoiding.  The cards change more quickly when I'm making progress.  I can see the energetic developments as they happen.

It's difficult to look at one's self objectively.  As humans, we all tend to project outward.  Our sensory input comes from "out there."  We receive, analyze, interpret and conclude and then spit it all back out at the world as opinions and beliefs.  It makes total sense, right!?  Why doesn't everybody think like me?

The Tarot, used wisely, can provide a way to step outside yourself and look more objectively at the Self.  It's not always easy.  There is a definite danger of spinning things to accommodate the ego.  Denial is a dark fairy, indeed.!

I have fallen into this trap.  More often than I care to admit.  It is easy to shut out the stuff that I don't want to own up to and paint a prettier picture of what is going on.

The thing is, eventually it all catches up to us and we have no choice but to deal with situations, people, feelings, etc.  With or without the cards, life will go on.  The cards, however, can help us see what going on inside with objectivity and clarity.  Once we see it objectively and clearly, we can make better decisions and take positive action.

A disturbing image for some, this
card has been a staple in my recent
readings.  The message, however, is:
It is time to rebuild and rediscover!

Being a Tarot Reader, I love helping people.  I love that moment when the light comes on and I see the "Ah-ha" light up a client's face.  My personal Tarot journal has revealed those same Ah-ha's for me over and over again.  My cards repeat the message until I get it!

That doesn't mean that I never consult other Readers.  I do!  Invariably, they confirm what I am seeing in my own readings.  It's hard to ignore something when  another Reader with a different deck tells me what my own cards are telling me.  They also confirm that I am on the right track.

After 26 years of working with the Tarot, I have come to realize that this tool is too valuable not to utilize fully.  The images and symbols are so rich with archetypal energies, it's impossible not find a connection.  We are all One!  We are all connected.  And we are all reflected in the Tarot.

Brightest Blessings!
